Writing in Media

NMC301, A Class to Remember…

My time in this class has undeniably been a wonderful learning experience. Not necessarily easy, but a lot of my hard work led me to understand key concepts of writing and empowerment through what I am passionate about. I can now go out in the world and show this knowledge and work I have attained from this class. More specifically, I now have a fashion blog, a thorough research article focusing on the effect of shoes and culture, interviews with influential students on street wear/sneaker fashion, a collective news feature that displays my work and passions, and so much more. The work is tough, and sometimes seems unreachable, but when it is finished the feeling is awesome. In all seriousness, this is one of the classes that I have learned the most over the course of my time at Oregon State. With skills in interviewing, writing an effective story, and understanding content on screenplay writing, there is so much to bring to the table in the future.

When working on the News Feature specifically, I found some pride in all the work I have done so far in this class. To combine my interviews with all the research I had done has been the hardest struggle by far, but knowing the end result will make everything worth it. Thankfully, we have a guideline of the kabob layout of writing, but the rest is our power and knowledge into this assignment. In creating the screenplay, this has definitely been a challenge too. I began with my topic, about my inspiring father and his dastardly tales. The only real struggle with this project so far has been the race against time. The deadlines for each product have been relatively close to one another, so the focus and determination has been difficult. My goal is to put all my passion into this screenplay as much as possible before the close due date. Overall, this is a great way to prepare for the future, but of course this is still a hard enduring class. Not exactly knowing what this class was going to be like, I am pleasantly overwhelmed and surprised how much I have gotten from this class.
